Overview

Unwind on Mafia Island Marine Park (Chole Bay) with calm lagoons, coral gardens, turtles, and rich macro life. Mix guided snorkeling with optional boat dives (or a Discover Scuba intro) across several reef sites—perfect for couples, families, and divers.
Access: Fly Dar es Salaam → Mafia (MFA) ~30–45 minutes; short transfer to Utende/Chole Bay. Whale shark season (separate trip): Oct–Mar near Kilindoni.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Mafia Island → Chole Bay

  • Meet & greet at MFA; private transfer to your lodge in Utende/Chole Bay.

  • Afternoon beach time; optional sunset dhow (extra).

  • Dinner and overnight.

  • Morning guided snorkel over coral gardens (mask, fins, guide included) or optional Discover Scuba pool/lagoon session (extra).

  • Easy afternoon lagoon snorkel or relax at the lodge.

  • Dinner and overnight.

  • Two boat sessions: choose snorkeling or (certified) two-tank diving with a guide.

  • Look for turtles, reef fish, nudibranchs, and healthy hard/soft corals.

  • Return by mid–late afternoon; dinner and overnight.

  • Tide-permitting sandbank trip with snorkeling and beach picnic.

  • Optional night snorkel/dive (operator- and conditions-dependent; extra).

  • Dinner and overnight.

  • Relaxed breakfast; beach time.

  • Private transfer to MFA Airport for departure.
    Diving only: observe recommended no-fly time before your flight.

  • 4 nights accommodation near Chole Bay (HB or FB per selection)
