2-Day Udzungwa Trek & Mikumi Game Drive

Overview

A compact combo of Udzungwa Mountains trekking and Mikumi National Park safari. Hike to Sanje Waterfall on Day 1, then enjoy a sunrise game drive on Mikumi’s Mkata Floodplain for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and lions.
Drive times: Dar → Mikumi ~5–6 hrs; Mikumi ↔ Udzungwa ~1–1.5 hrs.

Itinerary

Day 1: Mikumi/Morogoro → Udzungwa (Sanje Waterfall Hike)

  • Morning pick-up from Mikumi or Morogoro (Dar pick-up on request).

  • Enter Udzungwa Mountains NP; guided Sanje Waterfall hike (moderate, ~3–5 hrs) with chances to see Udzungwa red colobus and Sanje mangabey.

  • Picnic lunch; descend and transfer back to Mikumi area.

  • Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp near Mikumi.

  • Sunrise game drive on the Mkata Floodplain; optional stop at hippo pools (time/season permitting).

  • Late breakfast; check out and depart.

  • Drop-off in Mikumi/Morogoro or return to Dar es Salaam (late afternoon/evening).
